Working Wonders Outreach
Our goal is to ensure that all families with young children in Central Oregon feel a sense of belonging and ownership of Working Wonders Children’s Museum.
The Working Wonders School and Family Access Programs are community collaborations to ensure that all schools and families in Central Oregon are able to engage and access the rich programming and environment that the museum offers. The School Access Program (SAP) offers free and discounted admissions to elementary schools groups, as well as transportation funds for qualifying schools. Through partnerships with local human service agencies, the Family Access Program (FAP)provides museum access to children and families experiencing varying levels of stress.
In 2007, 13% of our museum admissions came through our scholarship programs. In 2008, scholarship admissions increased to 23%!!
The tremendous community support we have received for these programs allows us not only to continue to serve families in need, but to continue expanding the programs as well. We are delighted about the partnerships we have established and we look forward to continuing to nurture and grow our partnership base.
Our current partners are:
Crook, Deschutes & Jefferson School Districts, Family Resource Center, Together for Children, COBRA, MountainStar Family Relief Nursery, Big Brother Big Sister of Central Oregon, Department of Human Services’ Community Safety Net and Foster Parent Program, COCAAN’s Childcare Resources, Headstart Healy Heights, High Desert ESD’s Ready*Set*Go, Early Intervention and Early Childhood Special Education and Oregon Leadership Institute.
As our relationships with these schools and agencies mature and grow, we look forward to developing even more meaningful collaborative efforts to meet the ever changing needs of our rapidly growing community. We plan to continue expanding our partnership base to include more of the Central Oregon Early Childhood Community, particularly in outlying areas.
