Oh, the places you’ll go! Working Wonders’ featured cultural exhibit, Passport to the World, introduces children to the sights, sounds and colorful traditions of far-away communities with art, music, cuisine, native dress and home living. Children will gain a general knowledge of their world by simulating other cultures, emphasizing elements common to humankind, as well as experiencing geographical and cultural diversity. The exhibit currently features a small city in the central highlands of Mexico – Patzcuaro, Michoacan. An exploration of this rich culture is presented in an environment where children can engage in dramatic play in a Mexican house, an open air market and a traditional fishing boat. We encourage children to look at the similarities and differences between the two cultures by exploring the everyday life of a Mexican child.
